“We’ve misplaced our calibration certificates; can we get new copies?”
Yes, call our office with your company name and the scale serial numbers and we can send you PDF copies. Printed hard copies may incur an additional administration fee.
“Can I have the calibration procedure for my scale?”
You will need a qualified calibration engineer with accurate test weights to calibrate your scales. We do not give out these procedures to customers or end-users, but we are happy to calibrate them for you. We can send a qualified engineer if you are within our catchment area or you can ship your scales to us at our address found on the contact us page.
“Are the medical scales listed on your website suitable for hospital use?”
Yes, all the medical scales listed on our website are Class III Approved, meaning they are suitable for use in hospitals.
“I can’t see the product I’m looking for on your website, do you have more to choose from?”
Yes, we have many different scales from many different suppliers and manufacturers, please call us on 01908 373333 and let us know the model/type of scale you are looking for and we’ll be happy to help
“We have a service contract with you, do I need to call and book in a date for your engineer to visit?”
Our service team will contact you to pencil in a visit on the month your scales are due to be serviced. If you have not heard from us or have a specific date you would like the scales calibration to be completed by then please contact us to let us know.
“What methods of payment do you accept?”
We can accept Visa and Mastercard credit and debit card payments online on our website and over the phone. If you wish to pay via bank transfer / BACs, please email us with your order details and we will send you a proforma invoice. We currently do not accept PayPal or American Express.
“We haven’t purchased from you before; do we need to pay upfront?”
Yes, to open an account with us you will need to pay a proforma invoice before we can process your order. After this, any future orders will be invoiced on 30-day terms subject to a completed and satisfactory credit application form.
“What areas do you cover for servicing and repairs?”
For on-site calibration or repair, we can cover the majority of the UK with a few small exceptions. Please contact us with your postcode and details of your scales (amount, type and serial numbers) for a bespoke quotation.
If you are out of our catchment area we are happy for you to ship your scales to our workshop in Kettering, Northamptonshire.
“Do I need a Calibration Certificate?”
A calibration certificate supplies evidence that weighing equipment has been checked and has been found to be reading within the specified tolerance quoted. Weighing equipment is compared against calibrated test weights and the details on the certificate provide traceability back to national standards. A traceable certificate supplies documentary proof of calibration as needed by quality schemes such as ISO accreditation.
“How often do I need to Calibrate my Scales?”
We suggest that your scales and weighing equipment is calibrated annually and certificated if required. This will help keep your equipment accurate and in great condition. Please contact us here for a Bespoke Service or Calibration quote.
“What is the difference between Readability and Accuracy?”
The readability of weighing equipment is the smallest quantity that it will display. Accuracy is the maximum difference between the applied test weight and the displayed weight.
No measuring device is 100% accurate and typically the accuracy of standard weighing scales in a stable environment is approximately +/- (2 x division size) throughout the weighing range. Generally, the lower the readability, the more accurate the balance will be.
That being said, readability is not the same thing as accuracy. Accuracy refers to how closely the determined result matches the true value.
The accuracy of the balance relates to the measurement uncertainty of each reading, i.e., the ± tolerance in the result. A fast, stable weighing result is not necessarily an indication of accuracy.
A balance that is inaccurate cannot reliably produce repeatable results. Accuracy and precision are alike only in the fact that they both refer to the quality of measurement, but they are very different indicators of measurement. Accuracy is the degree of closeness to the true value. Precision is the degree to which an instrument or process will repeat the same value.
